    NewsBits

Have you guys seen that movie with the guy in it doing that stuff? Well that's sorta like what today's NewsBits are like, except different.
    • the people over at cyber x gaming have posted their event schedule and formats for a series of lan events and qualifiers in the us and europe that will award around $600,000 in cash and prizes, including $100,000 for the cs competition. they've assembled an impressive list of sponsors and partners, so to find out more about how to compete, point your browser over there.

    • coming soon to a monitor near you - frag or die 2! bds is currently accepting frag submissions for the sequel to the hugely popular frag or die, but is only accepting demos from players who have played or are playing in cpl, wcg, cal-i, sel, eswc, ugs-i, eurocup or nations cup.

    • blackdeath has updated the cs map central map installer to version 2.3. what does that mean to joe terrorist? it means he can download new maps off a large database and have them installed automatically for him. head over to csmc's website today and get you some, (insert humorous and politically correct noun here).

    • yes, we know this is not exactly new news, but a new version of cheating-death has been released, taking it up to v3.2. it only covers a few bug fixes, but you'll need it anyway to connect to any cd server.
This post brought to you in conjunction with McRed.

        • hawaii gamer has opened up its doors to the public. obviously they're an organization for everyone from that lovable island state.

        • cstrike-fortress is back up for the public's viewing with even more content. after a short period of downtime due to bandwidth constraints, they're finally back up. they've added a bunch of stuff so you should really give them a click.

        • narby has a few new shots up of that loader model for de_quarry we saw a couple weeks ago. impressive work.

        • el jefe has released his first counter-strike movie. it has to be good coming from someone with the name "el jefe."

        • tom's hardware is running a special article on online cheating. obviously cs is mentioned several times. hacktastic.

        • ugc is getting ready to start season three of their cs competition. with four seperate divisions they're sure to offer you something to like. check them out if you're into that sort of thing.

Not related to Half-Life 2 at all! Not even a bit! (pun intended)
          • the pcga will be hosting a counter-strike tournament on may 17th and 18th. prizes will include $1,000 for the winning team, 2nd place recieves $250 and t-shirts, and 3rd place will get all day free passes and t-shirts. what are all day free passes? beats me. the tourney's setup in double elimination and is sure to be flocked with lots of your favorite cal-i'ers. click for more.

          • shattered's model pack v. 2 has been released! like many other packs, shattered's replaces all the sprites and sounds and other good stuff. while i haven't see any screenshots and they didn't submit a site, you can still try it out. download at your own risk.

          • tyr from recently bumped up cal-i team est has released his fragnacious movie for you viewing. it's on quite a reliable host and is sure to get your frag juices pumping. note that you'll need winrar to open it because apparently .zip just isn't good enough. clicky.

          • everyone's second favorite esports site (behind us! ;d) has closed its doors. yes, shackes's matt huey left a goodbye note to all of his faithful viewers. shackes was a well-rounded esports site and had a good run. every ending is the beginning of something new.
Now back to our excellent HL2 coverage.

                      • the great dozen, a european cs clan, has posted shooting "throw" walls for a few de_ maps. okay, so their english isn't all that great, but they do have some nice hints on where to shoot to get those lucky wallkills or do plenty of damage to the enemy team. thanks, qzar.

                            • counterstrikesprays.net has re-vamped their site, and made it possible to customize any of their available sprays. just choose your spray, then customize it via a quick and easy online form, specifying the text and font you want. check it.

If you want comedy, try looking for rizzuh's date book. I am not a comedian, and therefore I will be posting news and no comedy at all. None.
                              • rizzuh is forcing me to correct his mistake. earlier in the week, he told you about ngz.net and what a great company they were. it turns out, he forgot to include a special offer they're running! they're currently offering 50% off the setup fee, and free psychostats! private servers are getting an additional 20% cut off, so that's a cool deal too. head on over to ngz.net to find out about the promotion, but watch out, as it appears in a pop up window that automatically closes when you click elsewhere.

                              • killing spree 5 has been released for your viewing pleasure. yes, gosey and matrix have been at it again to tickle your fancy. this is an excellent cs skill movie containing frags from some of the best counter-strike players in the world. you can find plenty of download mirrors on gosey's site.

                              • also taking place earlier in the week, we gave you the heads up about gotfrag's "ask a pro." well, the boys from gamers.nu have responded by updating their own section, named "ask heaton", who i'm told is a pro who plays for a good clan called "sk" or something. read up on heaton's spill, here.

                              • my good pal, netcatch, whom i have never spoken to, has given us the heads up on a possible cs:cz delay. he writes in that amazon.com is now listing the release date as october, 1st 2003. of course, the previous date was listed as may 2003, but we all know these dates really mean nothing by now and cz will ship whenever it ships. get on your ship and click this link to pre-order your copy of cs:cz. arg!
Well, I managed to get through the whole newspost without telling one whole joke. Sure, there might've been a few humorous spots, but I suppose that's just my natural instinct to make people laugh. Yes, I swear I'm on the patch.
