You mean a system that, for example, rewards the player upon completion of objectives? Like instead of score (kills) the player has the number of hostages rescued or bombs defused?

If this is what you said in your post forgive this, it's 2am and i'm too shattered to read all that, let alone make sense of anything

No, he seems to mean that you divide the players kills by the death and give that as a percent....sounds fine to me.

But, of course, 2 divided by 0 is an irrational answer, so if the deaths equal 0 it should just say "cheater".

          Mouth,

This is hymenator, a leader from KarF (where the article originated from). I read your post and i liked it a lot. What would you say about writing for us (klankarf.net) once and a while? Even if you don't want to, i think we should all have a talk about some of these issues that we are all facing.

Give it some thought and let me know.

You can contact me from either my website or email me at mchornet45@snet.net or hymenator@klankarf.net

          Thanks,

          Mark (hymenator)

I'd have an orgasm if mouth accepted. Doesn't seem to fit his character to be part of a single website. More seems to be the type of guy that comes where he has a point to make and makes it, nothing more.

I'd like to see damage points scores added to cs - based on how much damage u actually deal out (duh)... sometimes the fragstealers gets everything served on a platter... but we shouldn't remove the old scoring system, just add stuff. a teamwork scoring system should also not override the current way of scoring, but be added to it. then a player would not just be defined by how many wounded he can pick of (hehe) but by several things... would be nice. =)

"Fragstealers" is one of the most rediculous thing I've ever heard of. If you dont like people stealing your frags don't play team games, go off on your own and DM on a DM game like Quake3.

Oooh a bad guy there shooting my team mate, should I help him?

If yes then "Fuck off you frag stealing wanker!"

If no then "Why didnt you help me out you twat, you're on my team!"

I agree, in fact i mentioned that we could have localised damage, and there fore one could extrapolate a localised damage system, also there could be discovery points, and firstblood points. I cant tell you how many times I semi-deliberately sacrifice myself in an opening in order to give team mates a sense of numbers and direction of fire. Such an act of bravery could be rewarded with a medal or a point... Teamplay could be rewarded with assists. Finally I think dismemberment and hand to hand need to be developed, Im sure if I rushed an opponent with an empty m4 and swung it round my head at his head, I might well knock the fucker out before he squeezed of that second deagle round into my shoulder, plus movement could be modified to increase speed in the rush manouvre. And my point about dismemberment and localised damage is, If you are a lefty, and you get shot in the left arm; you auto switch to right view and vice versa, also limping should be used, and if enough damage taken, amputation. Also, Hardly fair or likely that 6 rounds in the left arm will kill you, An anti trauma medikit, (like Aliens v Predator, the predator kit is cool so to stop bleeding you must stop and dress wound, If you continue, you will bleed to death (slo rate of decline) and you leave trails.

I also love the UK2.net (terribley laggy servers but good ideas)subbing of smoke for teargas. This reduces health by five at a time and is only temporary. Useful. After a flashbang, Silence would be good, As we all have seen from Blackhawk and Private Ryan how effective the silence is at communicating disorientation etc... perhaps movement modifies for response to controls in the short time after and explodsion too.. But Now im going off on one. l8r Peace

CS does have localised damage and the running speed has been reduced considerably since betas to make it less DMey. Giving people extra points for rushing in at the enemy like an imbecile would just ruin the game as everyone would just constantly rush.

This isnt Ghost Recon or Americas Army this is Counter-Strike a team based objective game set very loosely on the real world. This is why its so popular as its realistic enough so people can relate to it whilst sitll being arcadey enough to be a farely fun game to play.

let's add all this things to cs, and hey, while we're at it, let's use another engine...

perhaps we'll see some new things in cs:cz... chances are they took a peek at many of the other "realistic" games out there... I think cs will lose much of the appeal if we "realisticize" (funny word) it too much... gimme nice guns, nice maps and nice movement... and stop pestering me with stamina, strive-for-realism-movements, wounding/bleeding, first aid possibilities and such... I can always go play another game that has these elements. -or, paintball! =)
