VALVe Software's Steam 2.0 BETA test is now available on CS-Nation to CS-Nationalists only.



Using Steam 2.0 BETA, you can download the Counter-Strike 1.6 BETA and many other Half-Life multiplayer game types using VALVe's advanced content delivery system. Unfortunately, you will only find this file officially available to pay services because VALVe wants to keep the numbers of players using Steam relatively low. CS-Nationalist upgrades are a one time payment of $3.95.

Cool, although when Steam was realeased originally, I was smart. I saved the exe and burned it on a CD when I was backing up parts of my hard drive. Yey.

I still play this cs beta, but it's lost it's fun for me. Folks who get in a tizz about paying for it should realise its like playing cs with an extra custom map, and 2 different gun models (I find theres not a huge difference between the new rifles and the old). Basically Steam 2 is like Vanilla Coke; you try it, spend 2 days telling everyone and his dog how much it owns, then realise that, nice as it is, normal coke will do for now anyway...

But Vanilla Coke tastes a lot better, and it's smoother too! I switch between the two. I'd play 1.6 a lot more if it wasn't for that damn shadowed text. Although, that's all I have installed on my laptop.
