1.6 is official sure, but it is still a beta that is filled with more annoying bugs than it should have. Steam is still a horrid program, i can't believe ValvE calls this the Final version of Steam when it still has more bugs than any other program i've ever seen.

steam is still extremely buggy (maybe as not buggy as when it came out but i do get weird errors all the time)
and my friend still cant connect to any server (only his). I also find steam very slow. ALSO that friend's thing doesn't seem to work correctly with me.
but i use it because its going to be forced soon.Comment

Steam has definitly shaped up since it came out officialy. And I had no problems with it when it first came out. The only problem I had that rarly appeared was the Hard Drive Thrashing that was fixed in the recent update.
1.6 definitly owns 1.5, and all the people saying they deal with steam because they are forced too? Your not being forced to do anything. If steam pisses you off that much, but you still deal with it to play CS because your addicted to the game that much...you got problems.Comment

I like Steam, if it wasn't for iffy updates sometimes I have had absolutely no problems and I like the added functionality it brings.
What I don't like is the fact that when you vote on a poll you go to a separate page to see the results, whats wrong with just staying on the main page?Comment

yeah that is a bit annoying. I have problems with steam now and then where I'm forced to log out of my account completely and log in again just to be able to play online. thats one bug that should be fixed asap. but knowing valve, they will fix every bug that no one notices or is affected by first and then may, just maybe, if they are feeling generous they will fix the bug that actually matter and affect us a lot. thats how they are. just look how long it took them to fix that bug where you would lose sound when you minimized? oh wait, they didn't fix that bug.....appended @ [time="1067789595"]

I'd say that they've left. I've been playing since Betas 1-3, "the good old days", and it's only been my perseverance (somewhat inhuman) that's kept me going through the changes. Not because it's changed the way in that the game is played, but the fact that more and more you see little 14 year olds* crying or screaming "HACKER" if you manage to kill them.
It's a sad state of affairs. Whingers once accounted for about 2% of the CS population; thanks to the ease and accessibility of CS, it's gone to around 80%.
I think it's almost time to find a new game that requires a little more skill, so I won't see some little pre-pubescent teenager crying to his mum about being killed. Call Of Duty for example.
