  • GameStop Open on Thanksgiving, Claims Employees Asked for It

Earlier today, GameStop revealed that their stores will be open on Thanksgiving this year, a rather drastic departure from the past three years. Though the hours open will be shorter than normal, this move has still angered many of the company's current employees.

Now hold on just one gosh darn moment here. Apparently, GameStop is only doing this because many of their "store associates and guests have asked for this!" That is a direct quote from GameStop in a statement issued to Kotaku this afternoon.
"To better serve our guests with their evolving holiday shopping needs, this year GameStop will open its stores for a shortened and limited time on Thanksgiving Day. Many of our store associates and guests have asked for this. We have heard their requests and are making an adjustment to our previous position on this topic."

For the past three years, GameStop was closed on Thanksgiving. In 2014, the first year that they were closed on Thanksgiving, the company said that they feel it's the right decision "not only for our employees, but also for our customers." They were closing purely out of "respect for" their "store associates and their families and friends." They continued on to suggest that they should spend time with their loved ones on the holiday.

Damn those lowly associates for twisting the arms of the big wigs at the top of the totem pole! Damn them for forcing the higher-ups to probably still stay home on Thanksgiving while they, the associates, have to go into work. Damn them all!
