Bloomberg Examines How Women 'Turn Video Game Voyeurism Into Big Business'

Bloomberg recently took a look at the growing trend of women playing and streaming games on Twitch. Bloomberg's Ali Withers wants to see if the "girls (are) being empowered by making bank on their terms" or if "they are being exploited as the fantasy objects of guys who look around cam rooms."
Twitch has given rise to a new wave of internet stars, people that earn money streaming video of themselves playing video games. The most popular female streamers have managed to make a living doing what they love while enduring the toxic comments that have become routine in the gaming community. Bloomberg spoke to some of them to understand what it means to be a top gamer girl on the internet.

You can watch that video over at Bloomberg. It's only six and a half minutes long, but it should paint a pretty clear picture as to what the reality of the situation is.

An accompanying feature article goes into slightly greater detail on the big business of Twitch streaming.
