  • Wargaming Sponsoring Band of Brothers Reunion in Normandy

Wargaming is the "official title sponsor" of the Band of Brothers actors reunion 2015 in Normandy.
The non-profit World War II Foundation announces that Wargaming, an award-winning online game developer and publisher, will be the official title sponsor for the Band of Brothers actors reunion in Normandy, France, in June 2015.

The reunion will benefit the non-profit educational mission of the World War II Foundation and recognize the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II. On June 5, 6 and 7, the actors that starred in the Band of Brothers TV show will visit the Overlord Omaha Beach Museum, the Utah Beach Museum, and the Richard D. Winters Leadership Monument in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, Normandy, France. Through this reunion, the non-profit World War II Foundation will continue in its mission to preserve the stories of the World War II generation.

“I am very much looking forward to having Wargaming as our title sponsor,” said Tim Gray, Chairman of the World War II Foundation. “Wargaming is the world’s leading source for the best multiplayer military gaming and with over 110 million players, it will certainly help promote the Normandy events and the time-critical work of our Foundation, and War History Online.”

“We are delighted to sponsor the D-Day commemoration in June 2015 with the World War II Foundation,” said Wargaming’s Director of Special Projects, Tracy Spaight. “We share the World War II Foundation’s passion for history and desire to preserve the stories of the greatest generation. It was here, in 1944, that the Allies broke through Hitler’s much vaunted Atlantic wall and hastened the collapse of the Nazi regime. Their heroism and sacrifices, brought home in television series like Band of Brothers, needs to be remembered.”

Social outreach and the ongoing preservation of military history is of the utmost importance to Wargaming. The Company’s partnership with the World War II Foundation is not the first. Other global projects include the sponsoring of USS Iowa, the recovery of the world’s last remaining Dornier Do 17, and the Wargaming Education Center at the Tank Museum at Bovington, UK. As Wargaming’s titles focus on aspects of both World Wars, it is important that the company help preserve exhibits of historical significance all across the world.

War History Online, one of the world’s leading providers of online military information pertaining to the 20th century, will also join Wargaming in support of the Normandy events this June.
