  • Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin 1080p and 60fps on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

In the latest blog update on PlayStation, it was revealed that Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin will run at 1080p and 60fps on the PlayStation 4 and presumably the Xbox One.
The jump to PS4 has given developer FromSoftware an opportunity to paint a more pleasing picture. The native 1080p resolution, upgraded lighting effects, and cinematic filters give the game a richer, cleaner look compared to the PS3 version.

But the biggest improvement comes from the improved frame rate — 60 frames per second according to Bandai Namco representatives. The increased fluidity translates into more responsive movement and combat, a major advantage considering the game’s famously unforgiving difficulty.

What else can fans expect in this new release? How's about new enemy and item locations compared to the vanilla release of Dark Souls 2? What about enemies that can follow you through fog gates? From has also adjusted a large number of weapons both in terms of balance and the rarity for how often they drop? One of the biggest changes will be allowing players to control soul memory to let them play with their friends more easily.

IGN compiled a comparison video showing the differences between the PS4, PS3, 360, and PC versions of the game. It's on YouTube so the differences may not be easy to spot since they're typically quite minor to begin with. However, the framerate should be an easy enough one to notice the differences on between old gen and current gen.
