2K Details Online Service Updates and Closures as GameSpy Comes to an End

Today, 2K revealed their plans on what will happen to many of their current titles when GameSpy finally pulls the plug for good. While the company does plan on updating some of their popular titles, many of their older titles will not be so fortunate.

First up, a list of the games that will be updated and transitioned to Steamworks:

• Borderlands (PC)
• Civilization III
• Civilization III: Conquests
• Civilization III: Play the World
• Civilization IV
• Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword
• Civilization IV: Colonization
• Civilization IV: Warlords

The update will not be instantaneous. 2K does note that during this transition, players "will experience interruption of several features, including online play, matchmaking and VOIP" until the Steamworks updates are fully deployed to those titles.

However, these following titles will not get any update and will lose all online functionality by May 31, 2014 when GameSpy shuts down.

• Rune (PC)
• Stronghold 2 (PC)
• Stronghold Legends (PC)

• Vietcong (PC)
• Vietcong Demo (PC)
• Vietcong Fist Alpha (PC)
• Vietcong 2 (PC)
• Vietcong 2 Demo (PC)
• MLB Fantasy All-Stars (DS)
• Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution (DS)
• Major League Baseball 2K9 Fantasy All-Stars (DS)
• NHL 2K10 (Wii)
• NBA 2K10 (Wii)

If you have any of these older titles and want to give them one last go online, you should probably get on that now.
