Hard Mode Coming to FTL: Advanced Edition

For those wondering just how the hell FTL could possibly get any harder, your guess is as good as mine. I haven't even beat the game on Easy yet and they're adding a Hard mode to the game.

Hard Mode: For our more masochistic fans, we’ve also added an additional Hard difficulty to the game. More challenging enemy generation, lower scrap rewards, and other small tweaks should help keep the game interesting for anyone who might be bored of Normal.

Of course that wasn't all that was revealed in the latest blog entry about FTL: Advanced Edition. The team also talks about new systems and subsytems coming to the game. Things like the new Clone Bay that will respawn some crew members after death but with reduced skills.

There is also a new hacking ability that will let you affect enemy weapons, shields, drones, and teleporters in various fashions. There is also a mind control ability, a backup battery mechanic, and more.
