It seems as though fans were more than eager to jump all over the early alpha release of the standalone version of DayZ on Steam. The game already picked up $5.1 million in sales in the first 24 hours with 88,000 players joining up in the first 12 hours.
Those figures equate to over 172,000 copies of the game sold already. Considering that this game is listed as Early Access on Steam and is also very much in alpha status, that is quite the impressive feat.
