Sega Acquires Atlus Parent Company for $141 Million

Sega just plunked down $141 million to pick up Index Corporation, the parent company to Atlus. According to Nikkei, this amount will give Sega managing control of Index and thus control of Atlus.

This move is a win-win for both companies as Sega expands their portfolio and Index chips away at the $249.7 million worth of debt they are currently dealing with.

For those not in the know, Atlus is perhaps best known for publishing the Persona titles, Catherine, and the Shin Megami Tensei series. Just nine months ago, Sega picked up Relic Entertainment from the THQ liquidation sale.
