Microsoft has revealed that SmartGlass for the Xbox One has been totally redone compared to its Xbox 360 counterpart. The reason being that the Xbox one was "designed from the ground up with SmartGlass in mind."
Microsoft claims that the new SmartGlass on the Xbone will be 3.5 faster compared to the Xbox 360. Given that this doesn't seem as though it will use the current SmartGlass app that I'm sure you all have installed on your mobile devices already, it stands to reason that there will indeed be a new app for the revamped SmartGlass coming. It will be available for iOS, Android, Windows Phone 8, and Windows 8 at some point down the line.
Microsoft also says that one Xbox One will be able to support up to 16 SmartGlass devices at the same time. Why would you need this? I have no idea, but it's a bullet point for features.
Another feature that sounds like it will be useful is the "Game Help" capability. If you're connected to SmartGlass while playing, the Game Help feature will track your progress and know where you're at in the game. Simply refer to the Game Help to be given a few tips on how to proceed. Maybe now, developers will stop holding every gamer's hands throughout a game and just tuck all of those hints away on SmartGlass.
