Real World Currency Update Starting to Roll Out Today for Xbox 360 Users in North America

The next time you fire up your Xbox 360, you may be prompted to update. This update sets in motion the steps necessary to convert your Microsoft Funbux (aka: Microsoft Points) to real-world currencies. So far as we are aware, the update is starting to roll out today to North America.

You will be prompted to update your system when you launch and will take a few minutes depending on your connection speed. Afterwards, you will see prices for items listed in USD. If you try to purchase anything another process will walk you through converting your points to dollars without much hassle.

The only issue here is that these points that are converted from this process are only good until June 1, 2015. So if you plan on saving that for any particular reason, you should probably hurry up and spend them over the next two years.

Don't yet see the update yet? Don't worry, it's a gradual process so it may not have gotten to your region yet.
