Discovered by the Internet earlier today was a hint that Sony may be readying a 12GB PlayStation 3 console for just $200 (USD). A listing on Canada's Future Shop website briefly showed a 12GB PlayStation 3 model for that new, low price.
The listing was pulled fairly quickly, but as you can probably tell already, nothing is ever truly gone from the Internet when things such as screenshots exist.
Previously, the flash-based 12GB model was only going to be released in Europe and Hong Kong but with it showing up on Future Shop's website, there might be hope yet that it will see the light of day in North America. This also somewhat confirms a recent rumor from PlayStation Lifestyle saying that the system would make its way to Canada and the United States on August 18th.
To further add some weight to the rumor is this additional photo taken from a K-Mart here in the States. Note the "do not sell" by date of August 18.
