TGN Takes A Look At the Payday 2 Beta

With the full gaming coming out tomorrow on PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 it just made sense to make a short preview video for Payday 2 based off of the beta that is still on going for the game.

Payday 2 places you in the role of one of four armed robbers that do bank heists, jewelry store robberies, to bigger fish like trafficking drugs over multiple days and robbing nightclubs. At least, that's a lot of what the beta consisted of. My friends and I have literally spent hours playing the beta and the various scenarios multiple times and it's already been a very enjoyable and fun experience. It definitely gives hope that the full game will bring even more of that to our plates.

Payday 2 can be purchased from Steam. There is the basic edition at $29.99 (USD), the Career Criminal Edition at $49.99 and four-packs for each of those. The Career Criminal Edition does include various in-game bonuses to enjoy. Pre-purchasing any of the packages automatically provides to you the first DLC release for free and other in-game bonuses.

Pardon the obvious framerate issues, I'm still working on getting quality settings for OBS that will hopefully be ironed out as the days go on.

The original Pay Day was great but this one is even more fun. I've been playing the beta non-stop looking forward to the release coming out shortly it is a lot of fun to play. Plus the price point for the game, if you can get 3 other friends to buy into the 4 pack you basically get your copy for free or someone else gets their for free. I highly recommend this game for anyone looking for a CS style + L4D objective game that ranges from easy mode to bend you over and make you cry mode in Overkill .

I'm of the opinion that this game is so far beyond the first Payday that it's darn near a crime to compare the two. I played alot of the first payday and had a great time, but it lacked alot of polish and refinement yet the concept was still awesome. It's just fun to be the bad guy. Granted this game isn't incredibly polished, for instance it would be really cool to have animations for mounting the drills etc, but beyond a nice little animation it wouldn't really go far to help the game out.

The skill trees are awesome, I find myself wanting to master each tree but you just don't have enough skill points. There are skills in each tree that are so desirable. I'm also ecstatic about the fact that Payday has chosen to ignore political correctness all the way, for instance one mission you have to escort bags of cocaine across multiple days and that is pretty awesome, especially when you have to hunker down and wait for the pickup vehicle. Also the meth mission where you have to actually cook the meth is just downright awesome. I love that you have to get the recipe just right otherwise the lab goes up in flames.

I can't wait to see what other missions come out in the final release. This game is just an awesome experience, overkill has taken being the bad guy to a whole new level.

It reminds me of the game SWAT 3.
