Actually, Sony also once sent him an original copy of Dungeon Master 2 that "they had lying around for some reason." Though that was not related to the recent gift of the golden PSone.
Notch has long voiced his dislike for Microsoft and what they've been doing both with their operating systems and with the new Xbox One console. He disliked the lack of openness on Windows 8, thanks to the Windows Store (a criticism that is completely unfounded, however). He also disliked the Xbox One, saying that he "wanted a game console, not a voice and gesture based TV remote box."
It looks like Sony is trying to pull the famed Minecraft creator into their court for the next-generation of arcade releases. Could we perhaps see Minecraft on the PlayStation Network in the near future? Time will certainly tell.
