Sure, you will be able to record and upload game footage highlights with the Xbox One, but that isn't the case with television shows. For as much as Microsoft promoted the box's TV integration capabilities, it seems a bit odd that they would not include any DVR functionality with it.

To recap, the Xbox One will still need a cable box in order to have any sort of TV functionality. DVR is not included with the Xbox One and you must still rely on your cable box or other DVR service to record your favorite shows or movies.
Microsoft deflected a question when asked if they had any plans on providing their own IPTV service for home use, which would eliminate the need for a separate cable box.
