Report: Microsoft is Planning to Roll Out a New 360 Dashboard Interface in Preparation for Next-Gen Xbox

Sources close to The Verge say that Microsoft is readying a new dashboard update for the Xbox 360 that will prepare gamers for the upcoming move to the next-gen Xbox. Slated for a possible public beta in either late June or early July, the changes to the dashboard will be made alongside the Windows 8.1 (Blue) update for PC users.

The changes are being made to help 360 owners make a smooth transition to the new generation. It will ensure cross-platform compatibility between the 360 and the new Xbox in terms of messaging, beacons, and achievements. It's also said that this will be the time where Microsoft begins to phase out their Points system.

If true, we may very well see a lot more on this supposed update when Microsoft holds their big May 21 reveal event for the new Xbox console.

I hope backwards compatibility is total this time around, it's not like last time, i didn't use my ps2 every day to talk and play with friends.
As a fighting game fan and regular cod player my 360 needs to stay, unless all that transports over to the new console easily.
