EA's Star Wars Titles Unlikely to Appear on Wii U Due to Frostbite 3 Engine

This shouldn't come as much of a shock to you, but it's highly unlikely that any of EA's Star Wars titles will make their way to the Wii U. You can thank the very probably use of the Frostbite 3 engine for this.

Last month, DICE said that the Wii U simply wasn't next-gen enough for it to be supported by Frostbite 3. Yesterday, Johan Andersson, Frostbite's technical director, took to Twitter to confirm that DICE and Visceral Games will be using the new engine for the future titles. He also said that Frostbite 3 has never been running on the Wii U.

Those two statements combined seem to signify the death of any hope or dream Wii U owners had of seeing the new EA published Star Wars titles on their platform. With a huge number of future EA titles potentially using Frostbite 3, things aren't looking too good for the Wii U right now if you're a fan of EA's game releases.

Nice. Way to make a next gen console Nintendo.

EA is moving a ton of things to Frostbite from their sports games to action and RTS games.

Is it time for Nintendo to go the way of Sega?

It seems like they should Crunch. I think they screwed up when they didn't make the Wii HD. I remember when I bought a Wii and brought it home and unboxed it and was like "wait a minute where is the HDMI port?" The I read up on it and realized that it didn't have one. I also didn't like the motion control thing. I couldn't get used to it. I would love to see some of their games on PS4 or the new Xbox. I loved the Gamecube.
