A Longer Look at Microsoft's IllumiRoom Technology

A while back, Microsoft briefly showed off IllumiRoom, a new technology that utilizes Kinect and a projector to enhance the gaming experience in your room.

Today, the company is offering up a longer, five-minute look at IllumiRoom and how it can be used to blur the lines between the game world and the real world.

With the new Xbox reveal slated for May 21, it is a very real possibility that the technology featured in IllumiRoom will be integrated into the new console. Obviously, this sort of experience isn't for everyone.

The distortion effects, the snow thing, and the bounce stuff are actually quite impressive.

It's pretty obvious that things like this will not become casual, but It's great to see the technology going forward and I wish I could support such projects.

I agree it is pretty impressive, but two things that would make it bad for me are waking the family up with bright lights flashing all over the family room, plus I personally don't have a room that big or a coffee table to have it sit on.
