The "don't call it a failed" experiment from Peter Molyneux, Curiosity, continues to bewilder fans today. A recent update to the game has added even more microtransaction payment options to the game.
This time, instead of offering tools to help players reach the middle of the cube, the new addition will actually hinder the truly curious. Yes, pay to troll options are now added by way of paying to add cubelets back to layers that are being chipped away.
Options include allow players to add 10,000 cubelets for $0.99 (USD), 100,000 cubelets for $6.99, or 500,000 cubelets for $10.99. A quick glance at the Curiosity app on my phone says that players have bought back 5.18 million cubelets. On the other hand, those not looking to troll have purchased the removal of 22.36 million cubelets.
Either way, 22Cans' experiement seems to be making a fair bit of cash from those purchasing any of these microtransactions.
