Online Lead for SimCity, Derrick Schneider, Leaves EA

Derrick Schneider, the now former Online Lead for SimCity announced a short time ago that he will be departing EA and Maxis.

Mayors! You're welcome to keep following me, but I decided to leave EA. Today's my last day. I'll poke @MaxisYagey about updating you all.

Thanks all for the kind wishes! Will be spending 2.5 weeks off with The Girl before the new gig (not in games), which I'll talk about later.

Schneider was one of the more vocal and supportive staff at Maxis, offering up a number of replies and notices on his Twitter feed about the state of SimCity.

In case anybody was wondering, he is leaving on his own free will.

He probably defended his baby and got shit for it. I don't really blame him. Though I wasn't critical over SC because I didn't play it.

He seemed to be a genuinely approachable person about complaints, issues, etc., not really defending the game.

Oh okay. Well still, I don't think I would be able to take the amount of Shoot-messenger abuse I suspect he would have gotten. So best of luck to him in the future.
