Batman: Arkham Origins Announced, Dated for October 25

The newest issue of Game Informer will take a good hard look at the latest offering for the Dark Knight. Yes, Batman: Arkham Origins was announced and is slated for release on October 25, 2013 for the Wii U, PS3, Xbox 360, and the PC.

In development not from Rocksteady but from Warner Bros. Games Montreal, the game will again use Rocksteady's modified Unreal Engine used in the previous two games. The story takes place before the events in Arkham Asylum and includes some of Batman's first encounters with various villains. This includes Deathstroke, the assassin seen on the back cover part of the above image.

Creative Director for the project, Erik Holmes, previously lead the design of The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction and Prototype.

There is also going to be a new handheld game in the Batman Arkham universe. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be released on October 25 for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. It is a completely separate game that takes place after the events in Origins. The "2.5-D Metroid-style exploration action game" is in development from Armature Studio.

Armature Studio is comprised of many leads that worked on the Metroid Prime trilogy.
