As noted by Valvetime, a public directory called "hometest" was discovered sitting on the Steampowered website.
The directory includes a variety of interesting pieces, all of them apparently being software geared towards the Steam Box. It includes various Nvidia drivers, a boot splash screen for Steam, various wallpapers, and Steam for Linux binaries.
Everything in these directories is either experimental or potential early builds of what may end up being the future Steam Box experience. The packages and updates are built for Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS and has had a number of updates for what Valve has codenamed the "precise" release.
