Skullgirls Raises Nearly $830,000 for New Character DLC

When Skullgirls kicked off their crowd-funding request on IndieGogo, they had hoped to raise just $150,000 to bring fans a new character for the game.

In the month or so that the project was under way, the team managed to raise $829,829, far surpassing their initial goal. As such, a variety of stretch goals were added to the project. Instead of there just being one new DLC character, there will be at least four new DLC characters, a handful of new voice packs, new stages, and new story elements added to the game.

In addition, the Skullgirls team is also giving Mane6 the rights to use their game engine for his project. Mane6 was working on Fighting is Magic, a fighting game based off of, you guessed it, My Little Pony. Fighting is Magic was previously halted after Hasbro didn't like their characters being used.

Skullgirls is a fighting game with a very strong following among fans of fighters. You can find out more at the Skullgirls website.
