As much as this did look impressive im a little confused by it all really. Frostbite engine 2 powered BF3 and the Frostbite engine 3 powers BF4, however what is the actual difference between the two engines?

Watching this it felt very much like i was watching a BF3 fan made video. Ok the SP looks like it might be a bit more engaging but i cant imagine multiplayer will feel any different to what we have now.

Recycling is good for the environment, not games.

So far, its a very well polished BF3.

As for the difference between the engines, it looks like lighting is a lot more tighter as well as artifacts. The sun glare is not so overwhelming.

        I like the polished HUD.

I knew all those pictures they were leased were single player pics.

        So far, its BF3.5.

The only thing i can think that is going to distinguish the MP from BF3's MP is if they decide to set it in the future a.k.a 2143.

I cant imagine them doing this though. Have any details on the MP been released?

Just from preliminary looking at message boards and Reddit, it seems 95% of people are complaining that it looks like BF3.

No duh, it's the same engine. What are you exactly expecting? A completely new game? We've known since BF4 was first announced that it would be very similar.

Personally, I loved the gameplay. Yeah, it looks like BF3, but I see so many improvements, both minor and major, that lead me to believe that this will be much better. The graphics are surprisingly a big improvement. Some gameplay mechanics look better. The SP is looking to be a lot closer to BC2 in terms of slightly more openness (being able to take the car and drive wherever with it, for example). It's still scripted, but it's going to be. It's also the prologue though, and prologues are always heavily scripted.

I will be happy with a refined BF3. BF3 is my favorite FPS game since CoD4, and if they improve it and make it better, I will content.

Its not on the same engine though is it? This is on Frostbite engine 3?

Thats the same engine. New version of the same engine.

@Anarchy, yeah, youre completely right. I just dont get how people expect it to look totally different.

Though I would be happy with a polished BF3 with BF4, I am not willing to pay for it again. Why cant they just polish BF3?

Of course, this is just the start and once there are more changes revealed with the multiplayer that will help me decide if I want it or not.

Someone also pointed out that that russians may not be a main point of the singleplayer so they wouldn't need to make drastic changes to them.

"Frostbite 3" is just a marketing term they use to put on the box and in press releases. It's the same engine. Same way that all the CoD runs on the same engine, but the PR team says they are different.

Crunch, I can understand why you don't want to pay for BF3 again. I expect they will make ample changes in the MP to make it worth it.

Don't be so sure of that Anarchy1. For one thing, Frostbite 3 is DirectX 11 only. Frostbite 2 at least supported DX10. Frostbite 3 also reportedly includes Destruction 4.0 and "new tessellation technology."

Plus if any of this is true, the dynamic weather is also a new feature of the engine: http://segmentnext.com/2013/03/19/ba...-4-0-and-more/

                          ... Among other things.

I mean it's the same engine, they just add improvements to it. I doubt any of the DICE employees actually working on it refer to it as such. They probably consider it to be a continual work-in-progess.

Also, is that DX11 thing confirmed or just a rumor? The only place I've seen it was from that list of "leaked" information. I find it hard to believe.

Same sniper and assault models.Same sounds. Same reload animations. The weapons also seem to use the same models. Same jeep and helicopters. same white van.

New: Improved visuals. Iron sights/scope switching option from arma/cod/moh
Shooting seems more solid/consistent and recoil seems to be higher too.
                              Squad orders in SP.

Also, when he is driving the same jeep from bf3, it's the exact same as bf3, but when he enters the civilian vehicle in the end, the handling really looks like the same from MOH
