In a new developer blog from Bohemia Interactive, it was revealed that Arma 3 will be a Steam exclusive title.
So what's the reason behind this move? The team cites reasons such as ready-made functionality thanks to Steamworks, a reduction in piracy due to Steam's DRM, and it allows the team to focus more on development by reducing the number of distribution versions of the game.
Interested players also benefit from a smoother gameplay experience. Previously in Arma 2, gamers had to install a variety of support packages and updates. With Steam, it's a simplified process with auto-patching and Delta-patching, which reduces the need to download gigabytes of data with every update.
