According to Ubisoft, Far Cry 3 sold to the tune of 4.5 million units since its released on December 4, 2012. This was apparently a lot more sales than the company was figuring on.
As such, the franchise is now a part of Ubisoft's "major pillars" for "core gamers." Yes, that means we'll probably be seeing a whole heck of a lot more Far Cry releases in the future! CEO Yves Guillemot said, "we now have greater visibility in terms of future revenue and profitability for this franchise."
That is to say, many dollar bills just started flying at our faces and by God, we want more of it! And you know what? I'm okay with that.
