In 2000, China banned the import, manufacturing, and sale of consoles. At the time, they figured that gaming consoles would have a negative impact on the physical and mental well-being of children.
Now, it seems as though talks are underway to perhaps lift this 13-year long ban. Sources within the Chinese government say that they have opened up discussions between the nation's seven ministries that originally agreed to the ban.
Despite the ban, digital sales were huge in China, accounting for revenues of $9.7 billion in 2012. A majority of that, 90%, was generated online.
