Report: Skype to Replace Xbox Live Voice Chat in Next-Gen Xbox

As part of their effort to create one consolidated voice communication technologies, Microsoft is reportedly going to make Skype the default chat service in the next-generation Xbox. This is according to CVG who cites a "person familiar with the matter." That is to say, this is a rumor right now.

This week, Microsoft already made the move to merge MSN Messenger with Skype accounts, if you had not yet done so previously. It doesn't seem too far fetched to believe that the next-gen console would also continue this unifying effort.

This also comes shortly after a job posting was listed for Microsoft to work on the "next gen Xbox" at Microsoft's UK-based Skype offices.
