Activision must love money, or something. In addition to their insanely successful Call of Duty franchise, the Skylanders series has also proven itself as a huge money maker.
So far, the series has pulled in a cool $500 million in sales across two games and a wide variety of accessories and figures. However, it needs to be noted that the game typically retails for $70 (USD). Additional figures can go for as much as $35. Figures, if you were unaware, allow you to play as new characters with new abilities by placing it on top of a physical piece of hardware.

“Even before the concept was fully formed, we were immediately taken with the charm and magic behind the Skylanders property and following the highly successful introduction of Skylanders Spyro’s Adventures , we knew that Skylanders Giants would be a top-seller in 2012,” said Richard Barry, Executive Vice President, Chief Merchandising Officer, Toys“R”Us, Inc. “We believe that Skylanders is one of the most innovative and exciting toy properties to hit the market and are thrilled to continue our strong support of the brand.”
