Valve Reportedly Ready to Release Linux Based 'Steambox' in 2013

Everyone and their mothers are getting this story from a translation off of a German gaming site, but it seems as though the Valve created 'Steambox' may ship in 2013.

First thing is first, however. This news is translated and may be a poor translation. The origin of the news is from Ben Krasnow, a Mechanical and Electrical Engineer at Valve that was attending a conference on December 29th. At the conference, he mentioned the 'Steambox' and other hardware projects in the works at Valve that will be presented in 2013.

The original article at Golem.de says that the 'Steambox' will be Linux based and will be out in 2013. With the strides Valve has made both in their Linux game offerings, the Linux Steam client, and the Big Picture mode, it may not be completely far fetched to think a hardware box is far off. Then again, this is Valve and Valve time is always in effect.

The name 'Steambox' is also not anything official. It's merely the name the Internet at large has adopted for the console-like device that may come from Valve. Other hardware offerings were hinted at, which can be anything from alternate reality goggles to motion tracking devices.

What is better? For them to announce HL3 or an half breed console/PC

Ricochet 2!! I'll be honest i have alot of nostalgia for that.

While not necessarily for me, i do want to see Linux become more popular.
