The War Z Game Servers Hit with DDoS Attacks

The Community Manager for The War Z, Kewk, has revealed that the game servers have been under near constant DDoS attacks for the past few days.

The team has been trying a number of changes and fixes to try to prevent the attacks which have made it near impossible for legitimate players to enjoy the game they purchased. Obviously, nothing they have attempted has really worked.

Things have progressed to the point now where they have called upon Valve to help them with the attacks on their game servers.
Ok guys here is the deal on Steam. Our fixes should have worked but they did not (and I am really sorry about that). We have no alternative to seek help directly from steam and have requested this from them. Unfortunately, they may not get back to us until tomorrow in the afternoon worst case scenario. However, I am going to try and cut some corners and see what can be done to get something sooner. Just note it is very unlikely to happen. I apologize steam users 6:02pm PST

If you're wondering why you aren't having a great time being able to join any servers or play without lag in The War Z, then maybe you should keep an eye on this War Z forum thread.

Oh right, there is also the possibility that a lot of the current connection issues are because the updater cannot connect to the update servers for the non-Steam version of the game, while the Steam version is apparently starting to work again, albeit slowly.

Wow guys, real mature. A crappy game can't die on its own demerits so you have to speed up the process. Unless... *countdown to false flag accusations*

yeah, what if these are lies to cover something that failed on their servers when they tried to apply some patch? xD

Sounds like they need to hire some IT people who know what they are doing. Although DDoS is sometimes hard to deal with there are many ways to get it handled that can be both cost effective and still support the players. You also got to consider that it must be a large amount of unless DDoS people attack their small amount of servers which in case could honestly be only a couple servers running tons of virtual servers so ultimately the hardware systems get boned everything suffers.

This also goes to show that this company does not have any type of disaster recovery plan before they started building their game. Although it is a small company that is building it they truly never though of the other problems they might run into or run scenarios of "what if XYZ happened..."

All in all I'm sure they'll find some fix but it is going to kill their business just as hard as all the promises and lies that were thrown around already; along with the pure hate this game has gotten I don't see it making it to the end of this year.
