Zynga Shuts Down 11 Titles to Cut Costs

Shut. Down. Everything. Assuming "everything" is included in these 11 titles that Zynga is shutting down in a cost-reduction effort. This is certain sad news for tweens and soccer moms all over.

The games shutting down include the following smash hits:
PetVille – Shut down December 30th
Mafia Wars 2 - Shut down December 30th
FishVille – Shut down December 5th
Vampire Wars – Shut down December 5th
Treasure Isle – Shut down December 5th
Indiana Jones Adventure World – Closed to new players, shuts down January 14th
Mafia Wars Shakedown – Pulled from app stores
Forestville – Pulled from app stores
Montopia – Shut down December 21st
Mojitomo – Pulled from app stores
Word Scramble Challenge – Pulled from app stores

While it probably doesn't matter much to most readers of TGN, try placing yourself in the shoes of someone who sunk tons of real-world money into these games. All of that time and money are all for not now. To try and make up for it, Zynga has offered some players of FishVille, Adventure World, and a few others a free package of virtual items to use in some of their other titles that aren't (yet) shut down.

Zynga still has over 30 titles still in operation across a variety of platforms including Facebook and mobile devices.
