While the reason is unknown, Blizzard has recently registered a new domain called projectblackstone.com back on November 26.
The URL does not presently direct to a website but that, of course, is subject to change. Blackstone is a somewhat common name found in World of Warcraft. Specifically, it's for a bridge in the MMO named Blackstone Span.
Additionally, there are Black Soulstones in Diablo 3. Right now, it could be for pretty much anything. It may be an expansion for an existing game or perhaps it's for something new entirely. Or maybe they just wanted to have the domain for the hell of it.
