Curiosity Servers Updated but the End of the Experiment is in Question

Richard Fabian from 22cans has provided a status update on the state of Curiosity today. While the team has worked hard to increase server capacity, it now finds that the future of the experiment is in danger due to the increased server costs.
In some sense, I hope that the extra power in the servers allows more people on the game and this will bring the cube to an end more quickly. The quicker we get through it the cheaper it is in server costs, costs that might mean we cannot afford to run the cube to the end.

The coding staff at 22cans have managed to turn a 1000 player server solution into a 100,000 player solution, at least for gameplay load, but as with anything like this, there are some bottlenecks inherent in some of the code we cannot change without an update. We look forward to being able to bring that update about, but for the mean time, I hope you get on and see the change for yourself.

Either they really are going to run out of cash before their experiment is finished, or they're using a bit of psychology to pressure more people into tapping more tiny cubes. Either way, I cannot presently log in.

The team also promises that they are looking into the issue of coin losses that some users are experiencing.
