1.8 Patch for Skyrim Currently Being Beta Tested on Steam

If you would like to try the most cutting edge update coming to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, then today is your lucky day. Bethesda has put up a public test for the 1.8 patch for Skyrim on Steam.
    • General memory and stability improvements
    • Fixed rare crash when using vampiric grip
    • Fixed issue where Arnleif and Sons Trading Company could become permanently locked
    • Fixed issue related to duplicate NPCs
    • Fixed rare issue where exterior door would not open properly

You can opt-in to the beta by going to Steam > Settings > Account tab > Select "Skyrim Beta" under the Beta Participation section > restart Steam. As with all previous beta tests for Skyrim, be sure to make a backup of your save games, just in case.

Did you hear about the DLC stuff included in the patch?

Rumor: New Skyrim DLC Found in Update, Brings Dragon Riding
By Ron Duwell on October 16, 2012 in Platform

File miners on Bethesda’s official forums have uncovered a handful of files in the latest Skyrim update that gives hints about Bethesda’s next DLC for the expansive RPG. Several files labeled “DLC2″ and “Dragonborn” have turned up, alluding to a potential new adventure for the Dragonborn warrior to undertake.

The DLC adds quest markers for areas throughout the map, including an exciting return to Morrowind, the setting of The Elder Scrolls III, and hints at several new armor types including Bonemold, Chitin, Nordic and Stalhrim.

Most importantly though, the files reveal animations for something labeled “DragonMounted,” most likely meaning that the Dragonborn will soon be riding the beasts he once killed through the skies of Skyrim. What this could mean or how this will effect the world of Skyrim has yet to be revealed by Bethesda, but quick transportation and aerial combat with opposing winged beasts is just a little too exciting.

If the files are to be believed, the Dragonborn will be able to cast magic and swing all forms of weapons from the backs of the winged scaly creatures. What exactly will he or she be fighting?

As mentioned, Bethesda has yet to comment on the find, so no official release date or price has been announced. Following with the typical release schedule, Dragonborn will most likely be available on Xbox 360 and PC to follow, with the PlayStation 3 release never happening.

    We kid! We hope…

    Morrowind? :O
