  • Simon Pegg Thinks Shaun of the Dead Campaign for Left 4 Dead is "Awesome"

After some modders showed off their early work on a Shaun of the Dead inspired campaign for Left 4 Dead, word slowly made its way to Simon Pegg. With the modders getting cold feet over the possibility of legal repercussions, Pegg said that he thinks the campaign idea is "absolutely awesome" and says he'll "do what we can" in getting the legal go-ahead from Universal.

The campaign is entitled "Left 4 Winchester" and will ultimately span locations such as Shaun's Pad, Mum's House, Liz's Flat, To the Winchester, and Survive the Winchester. It's in a very early stage of development right now.

Since the modders arn't charging for it, they can put whatever they want in there can't they?

That being said, maybe Universal might want to make a Shaun of the Dead game some day.

No, price has nothing to do with it. There have been many free mods based off of other IP's that have been shut down by the companies that own the rights to those IP's.

Recent examples being Square Enix shutting down a mod, Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echos, which tied Trigger and Cross together, had 10 different endings, dozens of hours of gameplay, and was in development for over a year. Another example being the Middle Earth mod for Skyrim that was shut down by WB after it was in development for EIGHT YEARS.
