Source Engine 2007 Source Code Library Leaked

A user on a Russian anti-Steam website, CSMania, has released the apparent full codebase for the Source Engine 2007 and the games associated with it. This would be the Orange Box version of the Source Engine for those keeping track at home.

The original post, which has since been removed from public view, states that the leak came from a "network of a game development studio that had licensed the Source Engine." This means that the leak was not the result of anybody gaining access to Valve's internal systems again. Lambda Generation managed to snag the text content of the post and provided a rough translation from Russian to English with appropriate links removed.

    Everyone remembers adamix’s thread, right?

I present you an archive containing a lot of source codes for different engines (act fast, may expire quickly, and I don’t know where to reupload this in the event of removal):
    [redacted]

    And the shell:
[redacted] (A lot of interesting stuff lies right inside the root folder of the website and /storage folder, maybe even photographs and adamix’s other de-anon stuff, I didn’t check)

If anyone wants to download the complete www and /storage folders, I won’t refuse, I’m very lazy, but there is a lot of interesting stuff in there.

P.S. I didn’t upload the shell, I only found it there, don’t get caught with it, especially if you don’t know how the shell works. (just in case)

P.S.S. Because this has reached the public after all, I want to make it clear that “the requisitioner” of this case is a friend of mine, whom adamix annoyed greatly apparently.

Those claiming to have the leak state that it's a leak from a build of the engine from around 2008. It contains the entire source code library for all of the 2007 Source Engine branch and even some in-house resources used by Valve. It also contains source code information from other engines including Unigine, Unreal Engine 3, and CryEngine 3.

It also allegedly contains source codebases for Counter-Strike: Source, Day of Defeat: Source, Half-Life: Source, Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2: Deathmatch, Portal, Team Fortress 2, an early Source port of Team Fortress Classic, and a scrapped early version of Team Fortress 2 called Invasion.

There are also a few small snippets for Half-Life 2: Episode 3 found in the code. These include .cpp's files called "npc_surface", "npc_combine_armored", "npc_wpnscanner", and "weapon_proto1".

With this leak, it is possible that hackers and cheaters could use it to gain a better understanding of the engine and allow for harder to detect cheats. However, none of Valve's current titles actually still use this particular build of the engine, so the worry should be lessened considerably. Valve now uses a version of Source from around 2009 which was originally used for Left 4 Dead 2.
