Don't call it a sequel, because the developers sure aren't, but Dead Island Riptide is the latest offering from Deep Silver. Announced earlier this Summer, Riptide is a new entry in the Dead Island universe that will pick up on a new island in the same archipelago as the first game.
New and improved in Riptide will be an all-new weather system and visual improvements to the overall game engine. The weather system will, supposedly, include flooding and trying to escape the zeds by climbing aboard nearby boats. Also new will be the ability to reinforce and barricade various forts that the players come across, though not much has been revealed about this feature just yet.
If you still have your old character save from the first game, keep holding onto it. Riptide will allow players to import their character stats! Arriving in 2013, Riptide is to Dead Island as Brotherhood is to Assassin's Creed. So, be sure to keep an eye out for more information.
