Sony Liverpool began its life as Psygnosis back in 1984 and became well known for its Wipeout series featuring futuristic combat style racing. It was also the studio behind such classics like Destruction Derby, Colony Wars, Lemmings, and many others.
According to sources close to Eurogamer, it seems as though Sony Liverpool was working on two PlayStation 4 launch titles. One of the games was a new iteration in their popular Wipeout series. It was slated to be "dramatically different" than other games in the series. It was also apparently in development for at least a year before being shelved.
The studio was also apparently working on a Splinter Cell style game. Not much is known about this particular title aside from how it allegedly used motion capture technology that was "a bit ahead" of similar tech used in L.A. Noire by Team Bondi.
