EA Owned PopCap Games Hit with Significant Layoffs

About a year ago, EA acquired PopCap Games for a total acquisition price of $1.3 billion. Today, it was announced that significant layoffs hit the company, mere days after Plants vs. Zombies 2 was announced.

According to sources, the Dublin and Shanghai studios were either shut down or shrunk significantly. The Seattle studio had its work force reduced by 50 or so employees.

While some may be ready to joke about how EA "killed another studio", thoughts should be with all of those who just lost their jobs. Best of luck to them in their future ventures.

Hopefully with the billion dollar buyout, each staff member received a nice relief package.
