First Details of Battlefield 3: Aftermath Revealed

The Battlefield 3 website has revealed the first ever details for the upcoming expansion pack, Aftermath. It will include 4 urban maps, "damaged terrain", new game mode, new assignments, and more.

Set amongst the shattered districts, streets and surrounding villages of a post-earthquake Tehran Battlefield 3™: Aftermath depicts a continuing struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation.

With operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives. Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.

    Key Features
    - Urban warfare on four new maps
    - Fight through the dust and rubble, use the earthquake damaged terrain to your tactical advantage
    - New heavily modified military and civilian vehicles – ingenuity and firepower combined
    - New game mode
    - New assignments, achievements and dog tags

Excited? I rather am. I often enjoy the city environments in Battlefield 3 on maps such as Bazaar and Seine. First up, though, we have Battlefield 3: Armored Kill coming!

Heavily modified military and civilian vehicles? Sounds good. More Vehicles can never go wrong. I was worried when I read "Urban" but then realised that "Urban" is not necessarily Close quarters

We have too much city maps already so no I'm not excited, rubble or not. Only the new game modes interest me.

I hope "Urban maps" does not mean "Small maps". I really want big urban maps with helicopters and planes, something like mashtuur city but with bigger and destructible buildings. I want to be fighting on the streets and see a building crash on a helicopter, or an helicopter who loses control and crashes through a building.

I think it will be smallish maps. End Game will be larger ones.

Thats my thought on it. CQ small, AK big, AM small, EG big.

This will be interesting, cause some of the campaign in Tehran was set in the dark, where only flares and streetlights light the night, also Dice wants to create variety with the dlc's, so the aftermath maps shouldn't be as thight as the cq's. The End Game will be definitely (imo) special forces style, hopefully with the return of the nvgs, flashbangs, deployable ropes etc ... from the old days of BF2SF.
