Lionhead Employees Detained by Police at Gunpoint Due to Mistaken Identify

So, this just came across the Twitterverse a few minutes ago. A few employees of Lionhead Studios were just detained by the San Diego police, complete with a brief period of having guns drawn on them while sitting in a cab and cuffed on the streets.

Ted Timmins, Lead Designer on Fable Heroes and Charles Griffiths, Game Designer at Lionhead, were reportedly in a cab when police pulled the cab over, drew their weapons at the two occupants, and cuffed them believing that the two were responsible for a bar fight earlier in the evening.

Once it was discovered that they were not the troublemakers they were looking for, the police let them go.

Holy shit! We just had our taxi pulled over by the cops! They pulled their guns and arrested us!

Poor @Charles_Griff got put face-first into the gutter by the cop! They thought we'd started some kind of bar brawl! #America #FuckYeah

And just to clarify, all of us walked away unscathed. The cops said it was mistaken identity, so they uncuffed and drove off.

Maybe the San Diego PD were not the biggest fans of Fable Heroes.

I know they do thing a bit differently over in the US, but isn't this kind of arrest a bit extreme for someone just suspected of a bar brawl?

ya it is a bit extreme, but unfortunately all too common for police to violate rights, then ask questions later.

How is that a violation of rights? They were only detained, which is standard practice.

Ever since the occupy protests there have been new waves of "POLICE BRUTALITY!" calls on the internet. Someone (on the CHEEZBURGER network comments of all places, which is rare for me to agree with) said that it almost sounds as if people want to live in a dystopian society so they can all be heroes in defiance...

People talk a big game when they're either anonymous on the net and can shout "brutality!" from the comforts of their home, or when part of a larger group out in public.

YouTube comments are the worst for seeing idiots should derogatory things at the police who are most of the time just doing their jobs as they should be or from segments of video that only give half the story.
