Magneto, Michael Fassbender, to Star in Assassin's Creed Film

Some Hollywood news for you today as it was revealed that Michael Fassbender (Prometheus, X-Men: First Class) has been brought on to star in the upcoming film adaptation of Assassin's Creed.

Plot revolves around a man who learns his ancestors were trained assassins after he is kidnapped by a secret org with ties to the Knights Templar, and sent back in time to retrieve historical artifacts.

"Michael Fassbender was our first choice" to play the franchise's iconic hooded hero, said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures. "Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor."

I'm going to assume they meant to say "secret organization" there. Ubisoft will be developing the film independent of any other major studio in order to maintain creative control. This will be quite interesting to see if that move works out for the studio.

Fassbender is also slated to co-produce the film through DMC Film. Ubisoft will also be bringing a Nickelodeon show based off of Raving Rabbids, and plans to create films based off of Splinter Cell and Ghost Recon.

i have seen him in Xmen and Prometheus both of which his performance were great so i expect the same in this AC film, nice, waiting for a trailer :)
