A beta is apparently underway for the Dawnguard add-on DLC for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. As a result, new information and some screens were leaked onto the web earlier today. New information includes word of a new Shout, an armored troll mob, the story basics, perk trees, and more. If you don't want to have absolutely anything spoiled for you then turn your head to the side and ignore the rest of this.
The story centers around Harkon, a vampire lord wanting to blot out the Sun and let vampires run wild. He, of course, can do this if he obtains the Elder Scroll. You, as the player, can either choose to join Harkon or the Dawnguard, a group that is (obviously) trying to stop Harkon.
This, naturally, leads to you learning new abilities depending on who you side with. You can turn into a vampire lord and make use of Vampiric Grip, an ability that sends enemies into the air while sucking away their health. You can also turn into a bunch of bats if you so choose to.
The Dawnguard grants you access to the new weapons, including the crossbow. The crossbow takes longer to reload than a typical bow and arrow but hits harder and flies a bit further. Oh yes, you can also hire armored trolls to be a follower if you choose to join the Dawnguard.
The new Shout is Soul Tear, which lets you steal a soul of someone while simultaneously raising them as an undead companion. Soul Cairn is a new area added to the game. Other than the fact that it's a spirit realm of sorts and there are quests there, not much is really known about what it looks like. You do get a cool skeleton horse, however.
A breakdown of the new Vampire Perk Tree and the Werewolf Perk Tree (both seen above) can be found below.
