Max Payne 3 Sells Worse than L.A. Noire

This is honestly some sad news here as word has come in from industry analyst, Michael Pachter, stated that Max Payne 3 has sold less than 50% of L.A. Noire's sales.

Without divulging too much NPD goodness, I can tell you that Max Payne 3 sales were less than 50% of L.A. Noire's. 8 years in development!

It's honestly a fantastic game but was unfortunately overshadowed on the PC by the release of Diablo III. Check out our two part review of Max Payne 3 to see why you should be playing that game right now!

One does not simply release a game the same day as Diablo III.On a serious note, this is really sad, the game is awesome! I just couldn't wait to hear Max's wise words in every chapter, James McCaffrey nailed it ... again.I hope the game sales get a boost in the summer gaming drought.

D3 is PC/Mac only. Max Payne 3, at the time of its release was console only.

The overlap there is quite small, certainly not something that should have resulted in such poor sales of 400K+ units.

This is sad, I love MP3 it is an amazing game. This is a bummer to hear the news .

Both were released on the same day, and it doesn't matter if one is console and the other is PC. Diablo 3 would have destroyed any other game in competition. Like SgtMattBaker said, it was a dumb ass idea on Rock Star's behalf to debut the game along side Diablo 3, even people who have never owned a PC have heard of or know the importance of Diablo 3. (Not to me of course, but I still bought it over Max Payne 3)

I love all the Max Paynes, but I never paid full price for either of them. I would think most people know Max Payne for its single player story line and, as for PC people, most would wait until its a bit cheaper for that.

I plan to get it later. I think with all the other games that have been released since November, people have to watch what they buy. We've had a 3 year drought on good titles and 2011/12 is a hurricane of games.
