I have a friend that plans to order one. Some of the nicest specs I have seen in a laptop, and I look at a TON of laptops every day.

      That's hot! ... and pricey ...

The Retina Display is awesome, too bad it comes at such price.

Yeah, seriously. It's nice as all hell but you can get equivalent for cheaper elsewhere (not with a Retina display of course). Or you can build a massively more powerful one for the same price elsewhere. Or just say "screw the laptop" and build a desktop for cheaper than that MacBook Pro is.

Oh yeah, mine was around 1600usd and it's a monster. But, I have to accept, those things last for a long, LONG time.

What do you need a 2880x1800 display on a 15.4" laptop for?

              Obviously not for gaming.

Because it looks beautiful. Have you never seen the Retina display on the iPads or the iPhone? For as overpriced as their crap is, the Retina display looks amazing.

Lol almost 4k for a laptop? You could get a beast of a gaming desktop for that price.

I disagree. I think Apple are overhyped as well as being overpriced. There's no actual need for this, and super high resolution screens might cause eye strain.

To the rumors of an Apple gaming console, some Apple Addict wrote that this would make sense, because the iphone/ipad has the most games ever made for any platform, and because Apple would no doubt release a new, better console every year while the big 3 only release a new one once every decade or so.

There are so many things wrong with those two statements, that only an Apple fanboy could make them. These new laptops with their redundant-resolution screens are designed for that crowd.

You don't have/like the iPod?, not a fanboy comment, but my iPod touch might be one of the best investments I've ever made, 4 years and still works great.

You may want to get your eyes checked if you think having a higher resolution with crisper visuals is a bad thing.

I like the original non app based iPod line, like the classics and the nanos. Still using the '09 nano to this day. Though I would never buy an iPhone. If I were to get one for free I would use it... Grudgingly in my own head mind you...

Err no. Too much of anything is a bad thing, and that includes resolution. I'll need my eyes checked once they are burned by super high res screens, which is why I don't ever want any device sporting such superfluous gimmicks.
