New Mac Pro Features Quad-Core CPU, 6GB RAM, and a Starting Price of $2,500

Starting at $2,500 (USD), you too can own technology that has been around for quite some time now and at much lower costs. During today's WWDC, Apple announced a new Mac Pro configuration that is sure to make your wallets cry.

    $2,500 Base
    - 3.2GHz Intel Quad-core Xeon CPU
    - 6GB RAM
    - 1TB HDD
    - ATI Radeon HD 5770 (1GB GDDR5)

    $3,800 Configuration
    - Dual 2.4GHz 6-core Intel Xeon CPU
    - 12GB RAM
    - 1TB HDD
    - ATI Radeon HD 5770

    $3,000 Server
    - 3.2GHz Intel Quad-core Xeon CPU
    - 8GB RAM
    - 2x1TB HDD
    - OSX Lion Server
    - ATI Radeon HD 5770

    Go ahead, pick your poison.

I'm not a follower of Apple, but is this Apple's first attempt at installing Quad-Core CPUs in Macs?

Odd, everyone was making a big deal about it at that tech show when they announced it. Figured it was their first attempt at dabbling with quad core.
